Why is there no sound coming from my turntable? A turntable delivers a relatively weak signal and therefore needs a preamplifier before the signal is sent to an amplifier (or a pair of active speakers). Without a preamplifier, there will be virtually no sound from the turntable. Previously, most amplifiers had a turntable input containing a preamplifier, but for many years many amplifier manufacturers have chosen to omit the turntable input. However, this does not mean you need to put your turntable in the cellar. Simply connect the Record PP-15 between your amplifier and turntable, and you are ready to go. Grounding In many turntables, the ground connection is established through the phono connectors, but this is not the case with all turntables.
Some turntables have a separate ground cable, which is why there is a thumb screw for the ground cable on the rear of the preamplifier.
